Livingston musician Eric Schneider has been writing and performing guitar music for over twenty years. He received his B.A. in Music from Montana State University. He currently focuses on jazz standards and original pieces. “What I like about playing jazz is that it allows you to explore the full range of a song, and through original improvisations you are able to create new interpretations each time you play it,” Schneider says. His original works have been influenced by a variety of musicians including Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, the Velvet Underground, early Pink Floyd, Debussy, Satie, and Leonard Cohen.
Eric designs and builds the guitars that he plays, including steel string, electric, bass and arch-top guitars. When playing solo, he often uses a looper to build his music in layers so that he can play multiple instruments. Schneider has performed in a variety of venues including restaurants, nightclubs, weddings, art galleries, music festivals and other gatherings.
